My Implementation

Being a good teacher means you have to be innovative! I believe if you taught from the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic through 2022, you had to be more innovative than you could have ever imagined.

I began pre-student teaching with 6th graders. They had not been in a physical classroom since the beginning of their 4th grade year.

I was able to bring these students back to hands-on interactive learning. I included their ideas to set the pace. I had to scaffold many lessons to give a proper demonstration of expectations. I created assignments based on students' skill level. I even turned writing into imagery! Please see the artifacts below.

Utilize websites that students enjoy collaborating with: My students really enjoyed Kahoot in our first semester. Over winter break I was introduced to Blooket. Blooket is more interactive adding a game to steal other classmates points when they answer a question correctly. This was a total hit! All my students were interacting with the questions and being very competitive. Even my quiet students were loud and interactive.

Comprehension Skills:

After noticing a trend in my students iReady comprehension data, I needed to create and easy way for them to follow storyline and recall what happened. This was a small group assignment. Students were expected to read a short story about Wilma Rudolph and fill in the blank to understand the cause and effect while also recalling events in the story.

Innovative Quizzes:

My students worked out of a workbook for their district. Overall there was a lot of writing to do each day. I was able to implement ways that students could draw what they wanted to write. These examples show: Mind Movie-what they visualized in each part of the story and Character Mood Analysis- students drew the facial expression of how the character felt in certain parts of the story. To further the understanding students would stand at their desk and explain what they drew and why it matched to the scene of the story.
